Arend Dieperink Museum

If you like a view into times gone by, you’ll enjoy a visit to the Arend Dieperink Museum nearby Monomotapa Village.

Situated in Mokopane, a school turned museum, the Arend Dieperink Museum contains cultural and historical artefacts from the Voortrekker and Sotho people. Not only this, but it contains a three-million-year-old human predecessor, Australothipicus africanus, found at the nearby Makapan's Cave. Also on display is a replica of a bushveld house, a "Caves through the Ages" exhibition as well as old farm implements and modes of transport.

Reminiscent of the famous Reinet House in Graaff-Reinet and the CJ Langenhoven Museum in Oudtshoorn, Arend Dieperink Museum makes for a quaint outing. And in typical South African fashion, try the famous mampoer and baked bread (available on request) to get a real feel of times gone by.
